Permanent Secretary Kivimäki to exert influence on EU decision-making during visit to Brussels
Permanent Secretary Minna Kivimäki will visit Brussels on 6–8 March 2024. The aim of the visit is to exert influence on the future work programme of the European Commission.
Permanent Secretary Kivimäki will meet with representatives of the European Commission and the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union. The programme for her visit will include meetings with Margrethe Vestager, Chief Vice-President for Digital capabilities in Europe, and representatives of the cabinets of Commissioner for Transport Adina Vălean.
In addition, Kivimäki will meet with representatives from four Directorates-General of the Commission dealing with matters important to the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
In addition to the Commission’s work programme, the topics on the meeting agenda will include taking winter navigation into account in international regulation, the objectives of the forthcoming CEF funding programme, the proposal for a directive on dimensions and masses, and the Commission’s recent White Paper on the challenges of the digital infrastructure in Europe and the options for resolving these challenges.
