Mr Harri Pursiainen to be Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Communications

Mr Harri Pursiainen is to be the new Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The President of Finland announced the appointment of Mr Pursiainen on 31 March.

Mr Pursiainen (48) is a Master of Laws, and has worked at the Ministry of Transport and Communications since 1984. He has led the Ministry's Communications Market Department since 2001. Before joining the Ministry he worked with the Finnish National Road Administration.

Mr Pursiainen will take up his post as Permanent Secretary on 1 June, when the Ministry's present Permanent Secretary, Juhani Korpela, retires. Appointment to the post of Permanent Secretary is for a period of five years at a time.
