Ministry of Transport and Communications organisation to change as of 1.1.2016
On 15 October 2015 the Finnish Government adopted new rules of procedure for the Ministry of Transport and Communications that will take effect on 1 January 2016.
The aim is to reform the organisation so that it could best meet the requirements of implementing the Government Programme. Service-orientation and digitalisation in transport, as laid down in the Programme, have brought the Ministry's two sectors closer together. Efficient implementation of the Government Programme and the new strategic steering model call for efficiency also in the steering of the administrative sector.
The Ministry's new departments will be responsible for services, data, networks, and corporate steering. The first three will comprise of the current transport and communications policy departments. The department responsible for corporate steering engages in performance guidance of the Ministry's administrative branch and the Ministry's financial and HR administration. The Ministry's communications will continue to operate as a separate unit.
