Minister Harakka attends a meeting of EU transport ministers

On 30 March 2021, Minister of Transport and Communications Timo Harakka will attend an informal video meeting of transport ministers organised by the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The theme of the meeting will be rail transport, which is one of Portugal's priorities in the transport sector during its Presidency. The Ministers will discuss how to increase the share of rail transport in passenger and freight transport.

The topic of increasing the market share of rail transport is included in the European Commission's Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy that was published in December 2020.

The year 2021 has been designated as the European Year of Rail.
