Lindén appointed Special Envoy to ITU Broadband Commission
Hamadoun Touré, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union ITU has invited the Finnish Minister of Communications Suvi Lindén as Special Envoy to the ITU Broadband Commission for Digital Development.
The mission of Special Envoy is to support the Telecommunication Union both in making the Broadband Commission's objectives better known and in attaining these objectives. The Special Envoy also maintains relations with implementers of broadband projects and promotes networking between them.
The title of Special Envoy is a recognition of Ms Lindén's active work in the UN Broadband Commission.
The Broadband Commission submitted its report in September 2010, after which it divided into eight subgroups to continue its work. Ms Lindén leads one of these groups.
