Government budget proposal: more than EUR 2 billion to the administrative sector of the Ministry of Transport and Communications
The Government proposes that EUR 2,044.6 million be allocated to the administrative sector of the Ministry of Transport and Communications for the year 2011.
It is proposed that appropriations to transport policy would total EUR 1,642.3 million, of which the transport network would account for EUR 1,414.8 million. Key projects in the budget proposal include the continuation of basic repairs to upgrade the Seinäjoki-Oulu rail link.
A total of EUR 19.2 million is proposed to be allocated to communications policy and EUR 40.5 million to research for the operational expenses of the Finnish Meteorological Institute.
The Government will also submit to Parliament a proposal related to the budget proposal for the incorporation of the Finnish State Pilotage Enterprise as a limited liability company.
