Applications invited for spectrum licences
Applications are invited for Finland's first spectrum auction in November. An enterprise, organisation or association that wishes to take part in the auction must register at the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority by no later than Wednesday 7 October 2009.
The frequencies to be auctioned are within the 2500-2690 MHz frequency band. They are mainly reserved for wireless broadband.
The frequencies within 2570-2620 MHz will be auctioned as one frequency band of 50 MHz, while a total of 14 frequency pairs of 2 x 5 MHz each will be auctioned within the 2500-2570 and 2620-2690 MHz frequency bands. One enterprise, organisation or association may be granted a maximum of 50 MHz of spectrum.
An enterprise, organisation or association registered for the auction will have to pay a participation fee of 50,000 euros to cover the administrative costs that will incur to the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority for arranging the auction.
