22.5.2025 | On 20 May 2025, the European Commission published a delegated regulation that creates a separate vehicle sub-group for extra-heavy combination lorries to the EU’s CO2 emission performance standards regulation for the calculation of CO2 emission targets of vehicle manufacturers. Finland was active in influencing the process in advance to define extra-heavy combination lorries (EHC).

28.5.2025 | The European Commission is expected to submit a proposal on the revision of the Cybersecurity Regulation at the end of 2025. The Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications submitted a report on this matter to Parliament on 26 May 2025.

7.10.2024 | A government-level cyber coordination group led by National Cyber Security Director Rauli Paananen has praised the cyber expertise of Finnish security authorities after taking part in the KYHA national cyber security exercise in September.

21.9.2023 | On 21 September 2023, the Government adopted a proposal for a decree amending certain decrees on the enforcement of social welfare legislation on road transport and on the division of labour between the authorities. The decrees will be updated to meet the requirements of the relevant EU Directive.   

20.9.2021 | Finland's greenhouse gas emissions from road transport are projected to decrease faster in the 2020s than previously estimated. According to the new forecast prepared by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, current measures will see greenhouse gas emissions from transport decrease by about 40% between 2005 and 2030. The aim is to reduce emissions by at least 50%.
