According to the new forecast prepared by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, current measures will see greenhouse gas emissions from transport decrease by about 40% between 2005 and 2030. The aim is to reduce emissions by at least 50%.

The aim of the meeting was to speed up the European cooperation for promoting transport automation. The meeting conclusions state that transport automation should be based on a human-centred approach.

This requires that the subsidies and incentives outlined in the roadmap for fossil-free transport are implemented in full and that every aspect of the emissions reduction potential is realised as expected. Measures at the EU level are also required, as is a greater obligation to distribute renewable fuels.

In addition, the Commission proposes that the Regulation on establishing a European Union Aviation Safety Agency be amended by adding provisions on the Performance Review Body of the Single European Sky to it.

15.1.2021 | The Roadmap for fossil-free transport aims to halve transport emissions by 2030. The measures of the three-phased roadmap are particularly relevant for road transport, which accounts for the majority of transport emissions. The Ministry of Transport and Communications invites comments on the roadmap, i.e. the Resolution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from domestic transport, by 19 February 2021.
