26.2.2026 | On 26 February 2026, the Government submitted to Parliament a legislative proposal to amend taxi regulation. The changes would be made to the Act on Transport Services and certain other acts.

2.7.2024 | The European Commission has published its annual State of the Digital Decade report, in which it assesses the progress of Member States in applying digitalisation and issues recommendations for further action. The particular strengths of Finland specified in the report are comprehensive basic digital skills and digitalisation in small and medium-sized businesses.

16.4.2025 | A proposal on temporary amendments to the Act on Transport Services was submitted to Parliament by the Government. The aim is to centralise data on publicly supported passenger transport services in one and the same place.

16.2.2023 | On 16 February, the President of the Republic approved an amendment to the Act on Environmental and Energy Efficiency Requirements for Vehicle and Transport Service Procurements. The Act will enter into force on 20 February. With the health and social services reform, the Act will be amended so that the requirements assigned to municipalities will transfer to the wellbeing services counties, which started operating on 1 January 2023.

24.6.2024 | The national introduction of the Public Regulated Service, PRS, of the European Galileo satellite system will continue. The service provides EU Member States with secure location and time data that is resistant to interference.

12.11.2021 | The national #TaasMennään (#LetsGoAgain) public transport campaign, carried out through inter-authority collaboration, will be put on hold as of 12 November 2021 due to the deteriorated COVID-19 situation in Finland. The campaign will continue as soon as the situation improves. The purpose of the campaign is to encourage passengers to return to public transport.
