The Ministry of Transport and Communications is requesting opinions on an assessment memorandum regarding regulatory and implementation options for a system to respond to location study requests. Opinions may be submitted until 24 January 2025.

The National Cyber Security Office, based at the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and the Finnish Terminology Centre are requesting comments on a draft of an updated Cybersecurity Glossary. The deadline for submitting comments is 20 March 2026. The glossary project is part of an implementation plan of Finland’s Cyber Security Strategy 2024–2035.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications has launched an update of the Transport Safety Strategy. The strategy is guided by Vision Zero, which aims to eliminate all traffic fatalities in Finland by 2050.

On 28 May 2026, the Government proposed the approval of the national provisions supplementing the European Union’s Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). The legislation will enter into force on 1 June 2026, with transitional periods aligned with those of the CRA during 2026–2027. The aim of the CRA is to improve the cybersecurity of products.

2.4.2026 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications requests comments on the draft government proposal to amend the Private Roads Act. The proposed amendments respond to the needs identified by the authorities and courts applying the act, as well as to feedback from stakeholders. Comments may be submitted until 11 May 2026.

24.10.2025 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications has submitted draft decrees concerning the fees charged for the services provided by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom, the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency, and the Finnish Meteorological Institute for comments. These decrees would replace the current ones, which will expire on 31 December 2025.

12.12.2025 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications is seeking comments on a Government draft on approving amendments to the Convention on Road Signs and Signals until 27 January 2026.

9.10.2025 | An informal meeting of the ministers for telecommunications is held in Horsens, Denmark on 9–10 October 2025. State Secretary Marjo Lindgren represents Finland at the meeting. The meeting was convened by the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

28.11.2025 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications is finalising the government proposal to amend taxi regulation. Next, the proposal will be reviewed by the Finnish Council of Regulatory Impact Analysis, translated and submitted to legislative editing. The aim is to submit the government proposal to Parliament in spring 2026.

9.10.2025 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications requests comments on the draft government proposal that would amend the Act on Transport Services and certain other acts.
