11.12.2014 | Finland's Ministry of Transport and Communications, Ministry of Employment and the Economy, and Ministry of the Environment are proposing the launch of an international testing, exercise, and training centre for Arctic shipping. The centre is to be implemented by the cities of Kemi, Oulu, and Pori along with their development companies. The role of the ministries would be to help the cities network with the players and partners of their own fields.

2.6.2009 | At the meeting on 2 June 2009 the Cabinet Committee on Economic Policy supported the Ministry of Transport and Communications' proposals of turning the Shipping Enterprise, Finstaship, into a state-owned company and, as decided earlier, of separating the duties related to internal production at the Finnish Maritime Administration into a state-owned company. Both companies will begin their work on 1 January 2010.
