24.1.2024 | Finland has successfully applied for EU funding from the European Commission, which awarded EUR 39.45 million from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) to seven military mobility projects in Finland. 10.4.2024 | The Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) is defined in the new Regulation on European Union guidelines for the development of the TEN-T network. The regulation also lays down provisions on the quality requirements for the network corridors and transport nodes. 16.12.2025 | At the Energy Council meeting on 15 December 2025, Member States of the European Union adopted a partial general approach on the proposed regulation establishing Connecting Europe Facility for 2028–2034. 3.3.2026 | Finland has joined the Global Coalition on Telecommunications (GCOT) in connection with the Barcelona Mobile World Congress. 11.6.2025 | At the seminar held on 11 June 2025, the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency presented the main results of a study on extending the standard track gauge commonly used in Europe to northern Finland. 22.8.2024 | A working group appointed by the Ministry of Transport and Communications has started its work to promote 6G communications technologies. The aim is to prepare a national 6G roadmap and to encourage cooperation and exchange of information in the field of future-generation wireless network technologies.
