11.4.2025 | The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) met in London on 7–11 April 2025. After challenging negotiations, the Committee’s 83rd session reached a provisional agreement on measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from ships. 2.5.2024 | Amendments to the EU Regulation on minimum breaks and rest periods were published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 2 May 2024. Specific rules were included in the Regulation to change the driving times and rest periods in the occasional passenger transport sector. In most cases, occasional passenger transport means chartered transport by bus or coach. 3.4.2025 | The draft National Transport System Plan, or the draft Transport 12 Plan, and the related environmental report, were circulated for comments from 20 December 2024 to 5 March 2025. A total of 250 comments were received. 20.12.2024 | Europeiska kommissionen har avslutat behandlingen i Europeiska unionen av Sanoma Media Finland Oy:s klagomål över Rundradion Ab:s statliga stöd. 12.11.2024 | Tero Jokilehto, Senior Ministerial Adviser at the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications, has been elected vice-chair of the Civil Aviation Group for the next three years. 21.11.2024 | On 21 November 2024, the Government submitted to Parliament its proposal to amend the budget proposal for 2025. The Government proposes funding for the Digirail project, which involves the modernisation of Finland's rail traffic control system, and several rail, urban tramline and road projects. 10.2.2025 | Municipalities and operators involved in Finland's critical infrastructure took part in the first national cyber exercise of the year at Jamk University of Applied Sciences between 3 and 7 February 2025.
