29.2.2024 | On 15 February 2024, the Member States, Parliament and Commission of the European Union reached a preliminary agreement on amendments to the Directive on Ship-Source Pollution and on the Introduction of Penalties for Infringements. 30.9.2024 | The Marine Environment Protection Committee of the International Maritime Organization convenes in London from 30 September to 4 October 2024. The 82nd session of the Committee continues the negotiations on global actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from shipping. The topics include the package of a possible fuel standard and a price for carbon emissions. 7.11.2024 | On 7 November 2024, the Government granted radio programme licences for a new nationwide frequency block 26, and for 20 individual frequencies in a supplementary application round. 22.1.2024 | The European Member States, Parliament and the Commission have reached a provisional agreement on a regulation on CO2 emission standards for heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs). The emissions reduction targets for new heavy-duty vehicles will gradually tighten and the scope of application of the regulation will widen.
